(Alliance Infantry Mobile Training Facility, 09.00 hrs) Check your gear once more, then we’re going in!” Charbel “Solo” Tengroth, Daniel “Drake” Sutherland, Erebus, and Hank “Spook” Chiu, acknowledged the order and quickly went through the checklist; rifle, sidearm, grenades and thermal detonators. “Ok, people, Michael “Raiven” Rovardi took a look around his small team. A few of them looked uneasy, dressed up in camouflage fatigues, holding infantry rifles, they were fighter pilots after all. “Remember what I told we should do. Let’s go!” Raiven opened the hatch and let the team file through before stepping in himself and sealing the hatch behind him. (An hour later) The five alliance pilots almost fell through the hatch as they stumbled to the ground, pulling off helmets, combat vests and the rest of the equipment to unburden themselves. “That was intense!” Solo exclaimed “How did we do?” He asked their team leader, Raiven. “Not too bad, although everyone died at least once.” Raiven noted, checking his datapad. “It’s worth noting that the actual battle had a lot less casualties on our side than what we managed today.” “In other words; we need more practice.” Drake concluded. “Neat way of practicing though, a lot more fun than the target range.” “Yeah, but not as good as actual practice, planetside.” Raiven replied, “The advantage here is of course that this module can be used on starships or other bases, making it possible for almost all units to practice ground combat while in space.” “It’s quite an achievement really, strange considering you were involved.” Spook added, examining a bruise on his knee. “From the messages I kept receiving it didn’t sound like he was that involved, or was losing at Sabbacc an integral part of the development process?” Drake grinned, sidestepping the datapad Raiven threw at him. “Listen up! We take a
break here, summarize your impressions and send them over to me. We’ll
meet here after lunch for another mission.” The pilots immediately
settled down, collected their gear and set off to their respective
cabins.
