(Alliance Infantry Mobile Training Facility, Lecture Hall a few days later) Solo looked over the hall, registering the many faces around him. There were mostly navy crewmen attending the lecture, a diverse crowd; tech crew, security personnel, gunners, and so on. “And a few pilots…” Solo thought as he spotted the occasional flightsuit among the crowd. “Settle down!” He ordered, as the holoprojector hummed to life. “This is the first of a series of lectures concerning the introduction of a new infantry training program for all alliance personnel. The word from command is that we shall all understand the hardships of ground combat, and also be prepared to take part in such combat if, or rather when, necessary. This training program is codenamed ‘Battlefront’, and you’ve all had a chance to accustom yourselves with the holographic environment over the past few days. By re-enacting previous battles from the civil war we can prepare ourselves for those battles still ahead of us. Today we’ll to talk about the battle of Hoth. As you all know it was hopeless, and all the alliance could hope for was to hold off the imperials long enough to evacuate Echo base. Your objective in this mission is to defeat the imperial onslaught and defend the shield generator. Erebus, who fought the imperials on Hoth will take over from here.” Solo stepped down from the podium, while Erebus stood up and took over the lecture. The Trandoshan adjusted the translator placed over his throat, not quite used to using it. He spoke Basic well, but knew that his intonation and hissing rhythm made his speech difficult to follow for those not used to being around Trandoshans. That accounted for most of the assembled personnel he thought grimly. “Greetingsss all. The Empire has both AT-AT’s and AT-ST’s at their disposal, giving them a huge advantage. Your mission is therefore to take some of that advantage away by capturing the imperial spawn point located in the upper right portion of the map. You can try to rush the objective early on, using a Taun-Taun or a Snow Speeder, or you can hang back a while and wait for the first wave of attackers to show up. If you decide to hang back it’s useful to start off as a sniper; picking off troopers all over the battlefield. After the first wave is defeated, jog up the hill and try to take a few teammates with you as you charge the imperial position. As soon as the position is in rebel hands, you can make your way back to the trenches and help out with the defense of Echo base. Concentrate your efforts to take out any units attacking the shield generator as a first priority, and keep an eye out for any rebel positions under attack as a secondary objective. This is especially true for Echo base (the hangar) as the alliance relies on the snow speeders to take out the imperial AT-AT walkers. If Echo base is lost we get no more snow speeders. Don’t forget that the time bomb used by the Wookie units is able to bring down any vehicle, including the AT-AT.”
