Wookie, female,
approximately 55 standard years old (very young for Wookie
standards), 2,20 Mts. tall, gray furred.
It was a
time of peace for Kashyyyk when Shalkaraykishpardivonne was
born. Her people lived undisturbed in their towns over giant
trees, hunting and trading, as they had done generation after
generation, in harmony with Nature and their own traditions.
But that was about to change.
Some Wookie
warriors attended the Republic's call to fight in the Clone
Wars when Shalkaraykishpardivonne was a cub, eager to earn a
name in combat, win battles that would be remembered and told
around the fires for centuries, and bring that honor to their
families. Her father was one of those, and he also was one of
those who never came back. They were still mourning him (and
celebrating, because his father had died fighting, the highest
privilege a Wookie can hope to) when the human troops came.
Thousands of parsecs from Kashyyyk, Senator Palpatine had taken
the power and the Empire has begun. One of his first actions
was ordering to take slaves from those races not enough human
before his eyes, specially the strongest ones, to work in his
megalomaniac projects. Wookies fought with courage, and the
desperation of knowing what would happen with their families
after their defeat. Many died, and many others were taken away.
The survivors found shelter in the deepest of their jungles
and forests, where the Emperor's legions did not dare to go.
Shalkaraykishpardivonne
lost her whole family, but she survived with the help of some
neighbors, who adopted her as their true daughter. But the memories
of what had happened never left her, the screams of her mother
and all her brothers dying before her eyes but the youngest
one, slightly older that her. She had seen how he was trapped
in a fiber-rubber net and kidnapped by several soldiers. They
ignored her, probably considering that she would not survive
wherever they were bringing her brother.
Since that
day, Shalkaraykishpardivonne waited for a chance to leave the
planet and revenge her family. She had no hope to find his lost
brother, convinced that he had found a way to die like a Wookie
and make his captors pay. The opportunity she was looking for
came from the hands of the more famous Wookie of all times,
the one whom the humans call Chewbacca. She learnt that Chewbacca
was in Kashyyyk visiting his relatives and took her decision.
When she went to him asking for a trip off-planet in the Falcon,
and a chance to become a warrior, he patiently heard her history
and her reasons, and promised her to do what he could. That
was a position as cook in a New Republic ship, the Wolf's Lair.
When she protested, he explained her that this would be a place
to learn what has to be learnt before becoming a warrior, and
that she was very young yet (for a Wookie) as to be sent to
the Infantry or the Commandoes. Finally, Shalkaraykishpardivonne
accepted Chewbacca's offer, considering that a warship was not
a bad place to start with.
Captain
Gen'yaa had not asked for a cook, nor the ship needed one, but
the rare times when Chewbacca decided to use his influences,
he always got what he wanted, and that was how Wolfshead Squadron
found that they had their own cook (Gen'yaa thought that they
had that concession very well deserved). Unable to pronounce
her name, they called her simply Ivonne, and soon some
of them started to appreciate her exotic plates... and to visit
the medical facilities quite often.
No droids
are allowed in Ivonne's kitchen, and the food processors have
suffered unrecoverable modifications to accomplish her requirements.
Ivonne (she decided that she could live with that name) likes
her work, but even more the opportunities she has to hang around
with Lynx commandoes, or with Wolfshead's armory officer, Granite,
and now she is able to manage every weapon that can be found
on board. From time to time, when Lynx goes out in a short mission,
nobody seems to be able to find Ivonne nowhere, while her kitchen
is secured and closed. Those times, it's better not to ask,
and use the opportunity to use a normal food processor.
